Remembering Sidd

Our 15+ year old Sidd has been dealing with an ever growing tumor in his mouth for about a month now, and today my wife and I decided it was time to end his suffering and have him put to sleep. He was truly a special cat, and spoiled rotten. I will always remember him on his mama’s lap, reaching for her hand, or nuzzling her face. That was his favorite place to be, without a doubt.

His second favorite place to be was out in the sunshine. For an old fellow, if you ever wanted to see a spring in his step all you had to do was open the door to the screened in porch, and he would come running. He would lay for hours, basking in the warm sunshine.

He was certainly not camera shy, and I have a lot of great pics – many of him sleeping of course. I’ll close with one of my favorite photos of him, napping on the couch with the TV remote control under his paw.

Rest well, Sidd. You will surely be missed. My wife has a lot of great photos of him on her blog in her memorial post Goodbye Siddhartha.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. We buried Sidd next to Shel, his longtime companion that we lost earlier this year. I planted catnip over her grave, and I will plant some over Sidd’s next year. That catnip will delight future kitties no doubt!

I’m so very sorry to hear this. Animals bring so much joy to our lives…I’m glad Sidd was lucky enough to have found such a loving home and to have had a happy life.

It’s always a tough decision at times like this. So hard to put aside our own feelings sometimes and do what might be best for the animal. Sounds like it was time, and I’m glad Sidd didn’t have to suffer.

Rest well, Sidd. You will be sorely missed, I’m sure.

I too am sorry to hear of your loss. The kitties certainly know how to make a place for themselves in our lives. It certainly sounds like you gave Sidd a wonderful, loving home. I love the idea of the catnip to mark the graves of your kitties. I will keep it in mind, but hope it is many more years before I, or you, will need to plant it again.
