Today I decided to have a little fun and focus on three colors to photograph: red, green and blue. This theme comes courtesy of David Perry’s recent assignment to pick one of the three colors and make a picture that features the color. Restraint is not exactly one of my strong suits, so I decided to do all three, since everywhere I looked yesterday it seemed one or more of the colors was leaping out at me.
First there was this lonely red bougainvillea bract, a solo bloom standing out on this mostly-bare plant from my basement fluorescent light garden:

red Barbara Karst bougainvillea
Then there was this green, extra curled parsley I snipped to go in our chicken soup:

nothing says green quite like parsley
Finally, my breakfast blueberries wound up in this photo featuring the color blue, which also used another of David Perry’s assignments (Macro in a Mason Jar):

For this last photo I put the Mason jar on a blue dustpan to give a little blue tint to the glass and to lighten up the dark blueberries a bit:

The blueberry shot is great. I love the little ice crystals and the pattern of the mason jar around it. Thank you for sharing your “secret.”
Thanks Colleen. The Macro in a Mason Jar is a neat trick. David Perry had a nice write about it last month on his blog, and I’ve had a lot of fun with it since then.
the only thing I like better than blueberries… IS MORE BLUEBERRIES. (grin)
Pretty and clever photos !
Frozen blueberries is a superb shot! Excellent!!!
I wish you and your family a Happy New Year!
Ciao! 🙂
Sharp photos from you here!
I love how you included the setup to the blue picture, for that is my absolute favorite one. Perfect macros all three of them but the blue one has that little bit of extra “zing” to it!
I really like the BlueBerries. Great shot!
Happy New Year in the Garden…

I’ve never heard of Macro Monday till I came over here – I might participate next week 🙂 – at least you had some colours to choose from – mine would be white………… and lots of it and some black. I’ve only after 1 year of keeping my camera on auto gone over to taking macro and super macro photos. I am really hooked on that setting now. I never would have thought of parsley looking like that close up! Happy New Year and good to meet you through Blotanical
Love the blueberries…
Happy New year!
Blue! I vote for the Blue!
I think you fulfilled the assignment beautifully! I love your sole Bougainvillea bracht. Most of mine have been killed back by the frost except for one Bougainvillea that is protected by a tree.
I love the blueberries! Using the dustpan is genious – I wouldn’t have thought of that. You are inspiring me to think outside the box, for sure!
The blueberry shot is the best. I love blueberries and use some from my big bag of frozen wild blueberries in my breakfast smoothie nearly every day. Thanks for stopping by to sample my cherries. Seems we’re of similar mind this week.
I like all your photos, especially the blueberries shot. Thanks too for sharing the trick, I will be trying it out!!
Nice trick with the blueberries – very cool effect and an excellent photograph. I liked the parsley as well, goes nicely in turkey soup. Thanks for sharing!
Fine macros one and all, but I’m kinda partial to the bougainvillea bract — such a beautiful color.
