It’s time for Harvest Monday, where gardeners from all over celebrate all things harvest related. I’ve been suffering from a summer cold bug the last few days, but the harvests keep coming in regardless of how I feel. My wife is helping out, especially with watering chores. Rain is forecast for this coming week so that should help a bit. Before I got sick, I pulled more kohlrabi and brought in squashes, cucumbers and eggplant. The raspberries are still trickling in, and we also got more blackberries and blueberries last week.
The greenhouse cucumbers are not slowing down though, and I got enough last week to share with others. I also got one of the Starry Night acorn squashes.
The container eggplants haven’t slowed down either, and while they require daily watering the plants are rewarding us with plenty to eat.
I’m just beginning to cut a few of the summer lettuce plants. These are holding up well in the heat, and they get a bit of afternoon shade which helps. I just sowed seeds indoors for another round so I can hopefully keep a succession of plants coming on.
I found time to bake a loaf of Easy Everyday Sourdough Bread last week. I used heirloom Rouge de Bordeaux flour along with KA Bread Flour, and it baked up nice and tall. It should make a good base for our sandwiches and for croutons.
Harvest Monday is a day to show off your harvests, how you are saving your harvest, or how you are using your harvest. If you have a harvest you want to share, add your name and blog link to Mr Linky below. And please check out what everyone is harvesting!

Your berries are much larger than ours.
So sorry you were ill, and hope you’re all better now. Your “Morning Harvest” photo is stunning. I’m curious why you cut the acorn squash now.
Thanks Will. The acorn squash looked mature and ready, at least for this variety. Plus, I set out transplants instead of sowing seed direct so they mature earlier.
That late spring, summer cold has affected many of us. Hope it doesn’t hang on. Berries and stone fruits are that sweet harvests that happen for us while we wait for tomatoes and other summer crops. You’re getting all of the above!
Hi Dave- I love seeing the nice assortment of things coming out of your garden and the bread! It looks perfect! Thank you for this place to share as I really love seeing all of the gardens. And – summer colds are a bummer. There’s never a good time to be sick but especially when we want to be outside. Take care!
