    Thank you all for your kind comments. John, that first photo was shot using the “macro in a Mason jar” technique that David Perry described on his photography blog awhile back. My wife did a nice set of photos on her blog that really shows the technique.

    Basically, I put the lettuce seeds in the bottom of a wide-mouth Mason jar, perched my little Kodak DX7590 on top of the jar, and put the whole thing in the photo tent for good lighting.

    Oh, I love this post! The seeds in the first photo are great, but I love the Tropicana lettuce leaves – so hard to get a shot like that evenly lit and level. It’s great!
