Yesterday was a sad day as we said goodbye to our beloved cat Puddin. Last year she had developed lumps on her body that turned out to be malignant, and due to heart conditions we decided to not risk surgery and just keep her comfortable as long as we could. She would have turned 14 in July, and spent 13 of those years with us after we brought her home from a local shelter. She has been a part of this household from the beginning, and will be much missed. Today I’ll share some of my favorite photos of her.

My wife has made several bowls using dyed roping material. She wasn’t happy with the way one large bowl turned out, but Puddin decided it made a good bed.
Of course, she had plenty of actual cat beds she could sleep in, which she did much of the time. She often kept one leg sticking out.

When we got our tuxedo kitty Ace, the two of them really hit it off and could often be found snoozing together. He died unexpectedly two years ago, and Puddin seemed to grieve, losing her appetite and a few pounds in the process. Which led us to bring Ally in to give Puddin some company.

She also bonded with new cat Ally, but they weren’t as close as she was to Ace.

While she was usually quite well behaved, she did occasionally wind up in places she was less welcome, like my wife’s computer desk.

She had a few quirks too. Any time I brought fresh garlic in the house to cure, she always wanted to chew on the leaves. I indulged her occasionally.

She also was known to get in unusual poses, like this one I called ‘cat yoga’.

Puddin was truly one of my favorite cats, and I’ve had quite a few over the years. She was loving and kind, never met a stranger, and got along well with all our other cats. I still remember the day we brought her home in 2007, and she was still quite young. R.I.P. sweet Puddin!
