It is time for what has become an annual tradition here for my wife to get a photo of me holding Ace in March, since we both celebrate our birthdays then. We got Ace from a shelter back in September, 2012 when has we about six months old. Here’s a pic we got of the two of us back in 2014.

Now he is six years old, and there a bit more of him to hold! He’s still a kitten at heart though, and we play some sort of game with him every day. Thankfully he likes to be picked up to pose for the camera.

As for me, I am finally old enough to get what citizens in some countries have available at a much earlier age: national health insurance! I never thought I would be looking forward to this, but after several years of having expensive and mediocre coverage it was a nice birthday present.

Ace has great coverage at the local vet, where he charms the staff at every visit. “He’s so funny” is a phrase we hear often, along with “he likes to talk.” Yep, it’s so true, he’s a funny boy. He’s not spoiled much either, hogging my chair at every opportunity and mugging for the camera.
